New Social Justice Library Launching! We Need Volunteers! Green Branch (www.greenbranchlibrary.org) is a library and resource center for youth of all ages focusing on social justice and environmental issues.
We are looking for a permanent space to house our library, and are also planning to develop a bookmobile model in the near future. At this beginning stage, we are opening a weekly “reading room” tent at the downtown Berkeley farmers’ market. We need volunteers with an interest in youth empowerment, social justice, and library science and education to lead read-alouds and other workshops from our tent.
Grounded in a firm commitment to social justice and righting the inequities that permeate our society, we believe in starting with education and empowering our youth. We are a group of teachers, parents, social workers and activists who know the power of the written word to educate, empower, and mobilize for change.
Please get in touch if you are interested in volunteering with this fledgling project. info@greenbranchlibrary.org, 510.872.2369
